Happy 2007!

Happy New Year to everyone.

I'm sitting at home trying to recuperate from shoveling snow. We had a pretty big snow storm in Portland on Tuesday. At least for Portland!!!! When it snows here the entire city closes down, schools close, buses stop running, and people go completely insane. We just don't get enough snow to get used to it and when it comes, it freaks us all out.

I realize that our storm is pretty tame to what everyone in the mid-west is experiencing. Hope everyone is warm and safe. I still think snow is beautiful. I was walking to work yesterday (they didn't close the university down until almost 9:15am) and I am always surprised at how quiet the world gets after it snows. It's quite wonderful, really.

Dave is in Albuquerque for a California Rental Association board meeting. He says it is cold but quite sunny. So he's missing all of the excitement here in Portland. I'm supposed to pick him up at the airport tomorrow night at around 11pm but if the snow stays as it seems to be doing I'm going to ask him to take a taxi home. It will be a lot safer than putting me on the road. I never drive in it and am too tentative when I drive in it so I think its safer for one and all if I stay off the road.

Not much else going on now but I'm hoping for a change in jobs in the next couple of months. My name has been put forward as a candidate for curriculum coordinator at the University. It's quite a compliment and I'm hoping it pans out, but there's a lot of things that have to happen first. I'll keep everyone informed as things progress. If it doesn't happen, well, then it's not meant to be. Wish me luck!
