This is What It's All About

Sherry and family,
thanks for posting the great pictures and the story of Jason's return to Kearney. This is what the Harmon blog is all about. The fact that we could experience even just a little of the emotion and joy of Jason's homecoming this far out in Oregon was spectacular. I can well imagine the well of emotion that the family must have felt when they saw Jason on the bus and realized that he was really truly home, safe and sound.

How great is that.

Jason is home from Iraq

Well my emotions have settled enough that I think I can write about this experience finally.
On Friday Aug 10th a good number of Jason's family were there to see him step off the bus bringing him in to Kearney on the last leg of his journey returning from the war in Iraq. In the picture below we are the crazy ones on the left side of the picture. We just saw him through the window of the bus as it pulled up to the curb. Everyone cried!
Here he is hugging Mom but no one got a picture of him hugging Dad. I haven't seen one yet anyway. I think he was really as overwhelmed as we were.

It was such a great day and we had such a good time seeing him and the rest of the family. The lady taking the picture behind Jason is Stephanie's Mom, Linda. (Stephanie is Jason's wife)

Mom and Dad both got along well on the trip and we walked a lot! They all kept up--Dad, Mom, and her walker. She has graduated to a mini walker now. It is only a one handed walker. She uses it like a cane. But it looks like a pint sized walker. Jason was sure happy they made the trip.

There is a slide show of the welcome home that was done by a photography club in Kearney. Several photographers donated their time and took 2500 pictures of the whole experience there in Kearney and then donated their time again to produce this slide show and will give a DVD of it to anyone that requests one. I am amazed at the generosity of just common folks. It inspires me to be a better person.

Thankyou all for all the prayers and anything else you did for Jason and his family this last 15 months.
The pictures below are in order from here to the bottom of the page: Derek Dishman, Madelin Parks, Delaney Dishman, and #1 grandson Ethan Parks

This is the website: imagefactoryphotography.com . Hope you all will go there and watch it soon, as I think it will be taken down in a few weeks.

Love and God Bless America!

Welcome Home Jason

I heard about Jason's return to the States from Iraq a little late and may not have gotten my email to Sherry in time to include in his welcome home package, but even so, I want to welcome Jason back. Thank you for your service and your dedication. We're all so pleased you came home safe and sound.
