Good news

I went to see Dr. Bell on Friday March 30th. She told me when I got there that she was first going to send me straight to the doctor in Omaha, but after she compared the results from the ultrasound in early March to the one in January, she thought I wouldn't have even needed to see her. The biggest node (these are like lymph nodes but weren't there normally for me - questionable) had shrunk from 1.5ish centimeters down to .7 by .55 centimeters! And they take a blood test that is called the 'tumor marker' and I'm not exactly sure what that means or how they can determine that, but it was negative. So I guess this means I'm in remission now! At least I think so. People always ask me these questions and Dr. Bell doesn't really use that word, but I think I'm safe to do so.

So now I don't have to worry about surgery anytime soon, I started two online classes this quarter at SCC and only have four more after that and am able to graduate in December.

I will have a body scan scheduled for the last half of June - this means I have to go on my low-iodine diet for two weeks prior so my body is depleted from all the extra iodine and if anything has spread it will show up a little more clear on the body scan. I don't know if this all makes sense, even to me, but it will be my third time doing it, so I know the motions.

For any of you who haven't heard of the low-iodine diet, it basically means I will be eating popcorn and chicken for two weeks. And anyone who feels sorry for me at work makes food for me. Just kidding. A really nice friend I'd just met last year at work made me food all the time because I complained of starving a lot. When I stay on my Synthroid and go on this diet - my metabolism is the same but since I'm not very skilled in the area of cooking, I don't eat as much.

But I will be prepared this time, worry not. I have access to an online low-iodine cookbook and now own a bread machine and a George Foreman. :)

I thought I'd just update this and let you all know what's going on. I hope everyone is doing well!

Hopefully the weather will warm down here after a bit, but it's still acting like winter again. At least the sun is out.

I plan on going home to York tonight or early tomorrow morning for Easter. Sounds like they have a good meal planned and considering I haven't been there since Thanksgiving! - I'm excited to get back again. The reason why I couldn't was the old Taurus being stubborn and I didn't want to overhaul it by going on the interstate. I solved that problem, bought a new car and now I can go. This is something else that's been pretty exciting for me the last couple weeks. This is my first official buy by myself! (I couldn't have done it without Eric's help though)
:) It's a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. I'll let you see for yourself...

I went on too long already ... need to get to the homework next. Happy Easter everyone!
